Power Systems Engineer — A Life Built on Precision and Endurance

From the coast of Italy to decades of engineering across the United States, my journey has been defined by discipline, resilience, and quiet strength.

Chapter I 1956, Genoa

Born By the Sea

I am Calvin Wright Giuseppe, born January 19, 1956, in Genoa, in the northwest of Italy. It is a port city carved into hillsides where ships, salt air, and centuries of craftsmanship shaped daily life. My father was Italian, my mother Swedish; I was raised between two strong cultures, with discipline, responsibility, and respect for hard work in equal measure. My earliest lessons were not spoken; they were watched in how my elders fixed what was broken, kept their word, and treated tools with the same care as people.

Chapter II The Atlantic

A New Continent

I have lived in the United States for more than thirty years, long enough to call it home and to be called American without hesitation. The crossing was not just geographic; it was a reset of language, climate, and expectation. What carried over were the values: do the work, finish what you start, leave the system better than you found it. America gave me scale; Italy had given me standards.

Chapter III Four States

The Long Work

Over the years, I have lived and worked in Missouri, New Jersey, Georgia, and Denver, North Carolina, adapting to new environments while staying grounded in my values. I trained as an Electrical Engineer with a specialty in Power Systems Engineering, and the field has carried me through every region. Each place taught its own lesson. Power systems do not forgive shortcuts. Neither does life. I learned to respect both equally.

Chapter IV Today

Integrity, Carried

I am 70 years old, six feet tall, 175 pounds, and semi-retired, though I still answer the call on a Saturday when the work demands it. After losing my late wife to ovarian cancer, I chose to change my environment and move forward. Life now centers on quieter pleasures: dancing, cooking, baking, and the steady company of Duchess, my Labrador. Some careers end. Others simply enter a different chapter.

CORE
MASTERY

Six disciplines, one standard. Engineering, field work, and lifelong reliability.

01

Electrical Engineering

A strong technical foundation built on years of applied field and system experience across high-stakes infrastructure.

02

High Voltage Systems

Specialized in managing and maintaining complex power infrastructure: substations, transmission lines, and grid-critical assets.

03

Field Operations

On-site diagnostics, switching, and maintenance work across substations and distribution systems.

04

Reliability

Over 30 years of consistent, dependable contribution in demanding roles. Every project, every decade, the same standard.

05 New Service

Generator Installation

Sizing, siting, and commissioning standby and prime-power generators, from residential backup to commercial transfer-switch integration. Clean wiring, code-correct, ready when the grid is not.

06

Consultation & Mentorship

Bringing decades of power systems experience to younger engineers, project reviews, and clients who need a steady hand. Honest assessments, plain language, no shortcuts.

Life does not always give you what you expect.
But it gives you the chance to endure, to adapt, and to continue.

A Loyal
Pause.

Life has not always been fair. After repeated miscarriages, my wife and I quietly accepted we would not raise children. Three and a half years ago I lost her to ovarian cancer, after a long and difficult battle. That chapter changed everything.

Today, I share my life with Duchess, my five-year-old yellow Labrador. I have had her since she was three weeks old. She is loyal, obedient, affectionate, and always present.

In many ways, she reminds me of the importance of quiet moments, consistency, and unconditional companionship.
